grape tomatoes.

peeling the skin with my teeth

devouring the shell, the protector,

its mother plant’s final gift

mushy, gutty, pumpkin insides

spilling into me

relishing the flavor on my tongue

of citric mixing with

red flavoring

fingers pressing in

a four fingered flower of pale skin

pushing out those inside seeds

this fruit given to me

by birds and bees

Swallowing

swirling down my throat

tiny chunks chewed small
