sleep’s grasp

sleep holding, fingers dug into
eye sockets, whispering
“you cannot open”
eyelids folding, covering iris and sight
“sleep now little one.”
arms enfolding me, embracing me, carrying me
in a sailboat, floating on the breeze of dreams
